Fundraising to support the Barnardos Bus Appeal

Australian Mutual Bank, a proud supporter of the Australian Mutuals Foundation (AMF), recently held a raffle to fundraise for the Yurungai Bus Appeal, raising over $3,000 toward a new bus for Barnardos Australia’s Yurungai Learning Centre.

The appeal aims to collect $120,000 to replace the Centre’s aging bus, essential for safely transporting children to and from its after-school program in Waterloo, Sydney.

The Yurungai Learning Centre provides vital services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children aged 5-12, including homework help, cultural learning, life skills development, and nutritious meals. For many children, the bus offers a reliable means of reaching the Centre and participating in its various educational and cultural activities. However, the current bus is nearing the end of its usability and urgently needs replacing.

Australian Mutual Bank’s raffle was part of a broader staff initiative, supported by generous sponsors who donated over 30 prizes. The raffle was drawn during a staff morning tea event, where participants also dressed up in Halloween costumes to celebrate the occasion.

Thanks to events like this, the Yurungai Bus Appeal has raised nearly 50% of its goal. Support from Australian Mutual Bank, a dedicated AMF supporter, highlights how staff-led initiatives can make a positive impact on the community while embodying the spirit of social responsibility.

As the year draws to a close, we encourage AMF supporters to consider hosting events to benefit meaningful causes like the Yurungai Bus Appeal. Donations are still needed to help Barnardos Australia reach their fundraising target.
