The 38th Development Education (DE) Program, held from February 22 - 28, 2025 in Bangkok Thailand, concluded with resounding success. Among its participants was Ms. Caroline Mayu Lulue, the first international sponsorship recipient, representing Papua New Guinea's Federation of Savings and Loan Societies (FESALOS).
Ms. Lulue stated that the experience was both enriching and transformative as detailed in her report below.

"I am honored to share my experience following the successful completion of the 38th Development Education (DE) Program. As the first recipient of the international sponsorship, it was a privilege to represent my organization, the Federation of Savings and Loan Societies (FESALOS), and my country, Papua New Guinea.
The six-day workshop proved to be an incredibly enriching and transformative journey. It deepened my understanding of the global credit union movement and the critical role that cooperative finance plays in advancing financial inclusion. Through engaging sessions, collaborative discussions, and powerful real-world case studies, I gained valuable insights into the cooperative principles that drive change in communities around the world.
One of the most inspiring aspects of the program was learning directly from cooperative leaders who demonstrated the true spirit of mutuality and solidarity. Their passion and commitment were evident not just in their words but in their actions - particularly during site visits and interactive engagements. These moments left a lasting impression on me and strengthened my own resolve to uphold and promote cooperative values.
I also experienced significant growth in my presentation and public speaking skills. The structured training helped me become more confident when addressing audiences, articulating complex ideas, and contributing meaningfully in discussions. This improvement has already begun to positively impact my professional performance.
Another highlight of the DE program was the opportunity to connect with professionals from diverse backgrounds across the credit union and cooperative sectors. The relationships I formed and the knowledge I exchanged with fellow participants and industry leaders will continue to support my growth and the development of our shared mission.
Participating in this program has been a milestone in my professional journey. It has equipped me with enhanced skills, broadened my perspective on global cooperative development, and renewed my commitment to driving financial empowerment through inclusive, community-based solutions.
I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to my sponsors - the Australian Mutuals Foundation and my employer, the PNG Federation of Savings and Loan Societies Incorporated - for their generous support. I am also deeply thankful to the organisers at ACCU Thailand, the dedicated facilitators, the inspiring mentors, and all the amazing participants who made this experience so meaningful and memorable.".
