On Thursday 22 May 2025, a passionate group of volunteers from the Australian Mutuals Foundation (AMF) came together to take part in the 2025 Barnardos Amazing Race which is a unique team-building event with heart.

Although Sydney’s weather had other plans, forcing a pivot to an indoor "Game Show" format, spirits were high and the energy was electric as teams competed, collaborated, and connected, all in support of vulnerable children and their families.

Representing AMF and forming ‘TEAM WHITE’ were Ally and Rishabh from Teachers Mutual Bank, and Michele, Elektra, and Nevine from Australian Mutual Bank.

Despite the change of plans, the day was a huge success. Here's what some of our amazing volunteers had to say:

The experience was fantastic, refreshing and above all, it was amazing to be part of an activity that is driven to a worthy cause. I highly advise other people to take part in such fascinating and satisfying events.” – Nevine.

I had a wonderful experience, full of bonding and collective teamwork. We had the opportunity to work together and with Teachers Mutual staff on the day which was so much fun for me.” – Elektra.

“It was a really fun day! Everyone was really lovely, and we ended up finishing in 3rd place. GO TEAM WHITE!” – Michele.

Events like the Barnardos Amazing Race showcase the true power of corporate social responsibility, bringing together individuals and organisations to make a meaningful impact while sharing some laughs along the way.

We’re incredibly proud of our volunteers for embodying the spirit of cooperation and community. Well done, Team White and congratulations on that 3rd place finish!

The Australian Mutuals Foundation is proud to partner with Barnardos Australia to help offer volunteering opportunities like the Amazing Race to Mutuals, Credit Unions, Building Societies and Co-operatives. To find out how to get involved, please contact us.
