The Australian Mutuals Foundation (AMF) is proud to be a major partner of Barnardos Australia. We support various Barnardos Australia initiatives as a donor partner and via volunteering opportunities.
One of the initiatives we support is the Barnardos Yurungai Learning Centre, which is based in Redfern (NSW). The centre helps local families by delivering after school services to 30-40 mostly Aboriginal primary school children.
The children, aged between 5 and 12, are collected from their school each afternoon and brought to the centre by staff. While in Barnardos’ care, they receive a nutritious meal, assistance with their homework, enjoy cultural learning (which is very important for the children) and creative activities. They also gain valuable life skills and self-confidence.

At Yurungai I learn new things especially when I do Yurungai homework, when I have no homework from school.
The Barnardos Yurungai Learning Centre is great initiative for helping Indigenous children get a start in life.
